The Holiday Season

Really.  By now those who are going to are probably writing or at least outlining any holiday story they are getting ready for the end of the year.  For those who are excited by the idea remember:

--They have deadlines.  The Halloween story in November will NOT work.

--They will be coming out during the holidays.  Really.  But you and your editor and probably your proofer and cover artist and everyone else will want  to do holiday things during the holidays.  (OK, that’s just a guess on my part but I bet it’s true.)  This means you must either get your story in early or be prepared to do edits instead of buy a turkey or tree or whatever it is you do for celebrations.

Like all other stories that are time-sensitive, you can kill a rep if you’re not ready with your holiday story when it’s supposed to be.  On the other hand readers like unusual and creative holiday stories and they buy them.  A lot.

Be prepared and have a lovely Labor Day.  That may be the last holiday you don't have to work through.
