Four Things I Hate About Being an E-publisher -- and Four I Love

The Bad:

4)    Not having enough time in the day to do everything that needs doing.

3)    Discovering stupid things e-publishers do (or hearing what people think e-publishers are doing) and remembering I'm an e-publisher.  Then I pray I don't do anything that stupid.

2)    People don't pay attention to their best interests and all you can do is watch the train wreck.  This is particularly difficult to watch online in blogs but can be conducted via email or phone.

1)    When I read a really good manuscript and realize our readers will never buy it.  Or there is some fundamental flaw in it that would take an enormous amount to fix, if it could be fixed.

The Good:

4)    Finding out what people are buying and trying to figure out why.

3)    Sometimes people listen to me.  (It’s a little startling, but I’m good with it now.  I just hope they hear what I'm actually saying.)

2)    Making money at doing something I enjoy.

1)    Reading really good manuscripts and getting excited because I can publish them.
